Ricky Aringo Sabornay, FCIArb

Managing Attorney

Ricky Aringo Sabornay leads the firm’s cross-border practice spanning corporate advisory, international disputes, arbitration, and regulatory matters involving the Philippines, Japan, and other key jurisdictions.

Ricky is a Philippine-qualified lawyer, a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales, and a New York-admitted attorney, with professional experience across Asia, the United States, and Europe. He is also a Registered Foreign Attorney in Japan, working closely with Japanese law firms and institutions.

His practice focuses on cross-border transactions, foreign investment, international arbitration, and dispute resolution, advising Japanese and multinational clients on market entry, commercial structuring, construction and infrastructure projects, and complex regulatory environments in the Philippines. 

Mr. Sabornay was part of the inaugural batch of trainees of the ASEAN Law Academy organized by the Center for International Law of the National University of Singapore in 2018.

He obtained his Bachelor and Master of Arts in Philosophy and Juris Doctor from the University of the Philippines. In 2019, he obtained his European Union Graduate Diploma and Master of Laws in International Economic and Business Law from Kyushu University, Japan as a Young Leaders Program Scholar of the Japanese Government. He also holds a Professional Certificate in FinTech from The University of Hong Kong.

In 2022, he graduated from Shizenkan University’s MBA in Design and Leadership for Societal Innovation with Academic and Leadership Distinctions.

In 2023, he was selected as one of Young Lawyer scholars of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association in recognition of his active involvement in the legal profession, his dedication to cross-border practice, and commitment to professional development. In the same year, he pursued advanced legal studies in International Commercial Arbitration at the Arbitration Lab and Corporate Finance Law at the London School of Economics in London and underwent training with well-known law firms in London in English corporate and international commercial arbitration, as well as  international private wealth.

Ricky  is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb).
